Hello, my name is Chelsey Dunphy and I'm an 18-year old artist who grew up and currently resides in Toronto, Canada. I'm roughly 5'7" and 128 pounds, give or take. I have a pretty average family; two sisters, a mom and an estranged father. Like so many other teenagers, my parents are indeed divorced.
I've always been the sort of girl who wanted to be taken seriously. I never followed trends, and I always fought for approval amongst the boys, because even as a child, I knew that this was a man's world, and if you can't beat 'em (which I actually did frequently), join 'em.
This led to me having an outsider's view on fashion and pop culture, as I had never participated in anything that could be considered "popular". I grew to have disdain for those whose style would change with the fads, I considered these people to be sheep and I could not stand them.
There is an abundance of cliques that the young people of today could fall into. There are ravers, scene kids, jocks, preps, goths, nerds, geeks, anime kids, stoners... The list goes on. One group, however, has managed to transcend all of these cliques, and while some may have different tastes, there is a unifying set of behaviour and dress that gives them away. They are the trendy, pretentious, faux-artsy group that I have come to despise, they are hipsters.
